Venus Cycle 06-08-04
The rare event of a Sun-Venus
conjunction as an eclipse on June 8th, 2004, is exciting for the astro-community as well as
the media. I've been asked to give astrological interpretations for the Newspapers and did a
lot of research. Here are my thoughts, clues, some advice and some questions about Venus
retrograde, Venus on her journey through the underworld.
First, let me point to the work of Claude Weiss of Switzerland (http://www.astrodata.ch). He finds it
significant, that many people in the Bush Administration like Donald Rumsfeld and Condoleezza
Rice, have Venus Rx in their charts. Weiss says that people born with Venus Rx have less trust
in the forces of Venus and tend to rely more on what Mars has to offer. A thought worth thinking
of, I believe. The current VenusRx phase is especially tough because Venus is conjunct Lilith,
both opposing Pluto. No hollow compro- mises please! (Would anybody dare to think that this aspect
correlates with the terrible scenes of american torture in the Irak - I mean it was the picture
of a young woman torturing a male Iraqi that became symbolic for the shocking events. Have we
ever seen a woman torturing a man like this?)
However, I learned that the
time of Venus retrograde is a time when the Goddess, Venus, leaves the sky and goes through a
phase of initiation in the underworld (approx. 40 days, which is a very biblical time span!)
She, so to say, leaves us without her comfort and her loving forces, but also with the chance
to get our eyes opened about our relationships without the "pink glasses" (as we say in german,
meaning the blurred view of somebody who is in love and not able to detect reality).
So indeed
I find that there are tough quarrels and disputes going on in many relationships. Marriage seem have
their offices packed. I recommend to friends and clients, not to take any decision about a current
relationship until Venus is direct again. The "absence" of Venus also seems to bring back old
loves or lovers, especially when still unsettled. One could interpret Venus Rx as being "out of
love" versus being "fallen in love". So these 43 days might be used as a time of introspection
and retreat, it might help to sort out emotional tangles. For some, it can even be a time of
celibacy - by free will or not. In my german article on this site I said: "it is very important
that we do not only indulge in Venus' function as a symbol of beauty and consumption. We have
to rediscover her magic qualities as a Goddess of love and relations. To give us time to understand
that, Venus withdraws every two years, so that we can correct our values".
To prove the magic of
Venus, I showed the pentacle that appears if you mark five Sun-VenusR-conjunctions in the zodiac
wheel and then draw a line and connect them according to their date of appearance. The transit
from June,8, 04 completes a Venus-Cycle. The next Conjunction happens on January 14, 2006, only
2 degrees from the Conjunction the Pentacle started with.
Here are some great Venus links:

Now I hope we all make the best of this heavy, yet magical Venus activities!
